Does Your Pediatric Dentist No Longer Accept Your Insurance?

If a change in insurance participation has your family looking for a new pediatric dentist, Ironwood is here to help.

Looking for an Alternative that Accepts Your Insurance?

Changing pediatric dentists can feel like a big step, especially when your child is already familiar with their current dental team. If your child has been a patient at a pediatric dentistry and you are looking for a new practice that accepts your insurance, you may be wondering what to do next.

Ironwood Pediatric Dentistry offers another child-friendly option in Scottsdale. We accept many dental insurance plans and file claims on behalf of our patients. Our team can help you understand your benefits, anticipated coverage, and possible out-of-pocket costs while making your child’s transition to a new dental home as comfortable as possible.

Courtesy Billing vs. Network Participation

Some out-of-network dental practices offer courtesy billing for eligible Preferred Provider Organization, or PPO, insurance plans. Courtesy billing means the dental office submits a claim to the insurance company for the patient.

This can make the paperwork more convenient, but it does not change the practice’s network status.

The difference between in-network and out-of-network care can affect:

  • The fee used to calculate your benefits
  • Whether contracted insurance rates apply
  • Your deductible and coinsurance
  • How much your insurance company reimburses
  • Your final out-of-pocket responsibility

Some PPO plans include out-of-network benefits, but the coverage may be different from the benefits available through an in-network provider. Submitting a claim is also not a guarantee that your insurance company will cover the service or reimburse it at the same level.

Before scheduling treatment with any dental practice, ask both the office and your insurance carrier to confirm the provider’s current status under your exact plan.

Ironwood Accepts Many Dental Insurance Plans

Ironwood Pediatric Dentistry accepts many dental insurance plans, including AHCCCS and Medicaid. We also file insurance claims on behalf of our patients, helping families avoid unnecessary paperwork and administrative hassle.

Our knowledgeable benefit coordinators can help you understand what your plan is expected to pay and discuss options for taking care of any remaining balance.

Because every insurance policy is different, accepting a plan does not mean every service will be covered in full. Insurance benefit information is always an estimate rather than a guarantee of payment. Your insurance carrier makes the final coverage determination.

Transferring Your Child’s Dental Care to Ironwood

When scheduling your first Ironwood appointment, tell our team about your child’s dental history, current concerns, and any special healthcare needs. Ironwood may request records from another healthcare provider when needed to coordinate care. During the first visit, we will examine your child’s teeth and gums, and X-rays may be taken when appropriate.
